Is Orion Merit Badge College open to all districts / counsels?
Registration will be limited to Orion scouts until December 12th. All other units may register beginning on this date.

Registration opens November 3rd and closed on January 13th at 8pm.
When is Merit Badge College 2026?
Orion District Merit Badge College 2026 will be help on January 24th and February 21th from 8:45am to 3:30pm.
Do I need to attend both class dates?
Yes, scouts should participate in both dates to complete as much of their courses as possible. If you do not attend, you will only receive credit for the portion of the course completed.
I have a soccer, football, dance, tennis, band, school, or other function during the class times, what should I do?
Do your best to attend as much of the classes as possible in order to complete the course. You can leave / return as needed but please let your counselor know the actual class starts.
Do I need to bring Blue Cards?
If your troop/unit requires Blue Cards, please bring them with you to class. Following the course, all documentation will be send electronically to each unit for entry into Scoutbook.
How much does Merit Badge College cost?
The cost is $15 per scout and includes printed workbooks for up to four classes and a MBC patch.
Who can participate in Orion Merit Badge College 2026?
All Orion registered scouts. Registration will be opened to all of Longhorn council on January 4th.
Should adults signup to help?
YES! We need at least one adult for every eight scouts. Please fill out the registration form on the Adult page.
Where do I get lunch on class days?
Order of the Arrow will have food, drinks and snacks for purchase on both class dates. If you would rather bring your own lunch or have someone deliver it to you, that is totally fine. ADULTS: Food is provided at no cost to counselors and all-day adult volunteers.
Can we register as a Unit?
Units can decide to register their scouts as a group or individually. Both the Longhorn Council registration and the Google Form must be completed for each scout.
How can I complete a merit badge after the two class dates?
Counselor contact details will be provided to each unit leader and scout. Scout may choose to continue working with the MB College counselor or their own unit counselor(s).
When will I have my class schedule?
Class schedules for both scouts and adults will be emailed in early January.
Can I sign up for any Merit Badge?
Some merit badge content can be advanced for some scouts. Unit leaders are encouraged to discuss course selection with their scouts to ensure a good fit. Merit Badge College committee will send schedules to each Unit leader in early January but is available anytime if needed, just email mbcollegeorion@gmail.com .
Scouts with a rank of First-Class and above may select any assortment of four badges, elective or Eagle required. Scouts below First-Class rank will have the opportunity to register for up to two Eagle required classes unless additional space is available.
All courses are dependent on space and counselor availability.
