WINTER WEATHER UPDATE - February 4th, 2026:

We are all disapointed that the weather had other ideas for January but we still have an absolutly fantastic day of merit badging coming up on February 21st!

After reviewing alternative options with counselors, district leaders, and the facility, unfortuantly we will not be able to reschedule the January class date. Instead, we have created some homework / prework suggestions for each merit badge. This work can be started now by checking out the shared Google Drive with details for each class.

Calling all Scouts! Get ready for Orion’s Merit Badge College, where two action-packed days of learning, exploring, and badge-earning await! Join us at the Garden Ridge Church of Christ on January 24 and February 21, 2026, from 8:30 a.m. to 3:45 p.m., for an experience designed for Scouts eager to dive into new skills and make friends along the way.

Whether you’re interested in building a robot, mastering survival skills, or uncovering the mysteries of nature, or diving in to the world of artificial intelligence; Orion’s Merit Badge College has something for everyone. Imagine days packed with hands-on activities, expert guides, and exciting badge challenges that bring you closer to your goals. It’s the perfect opportunity to try new things, ask questions, and make unforgettable memories with other Scouts!

Who: All active scouts in Orion District (opening to all districts on December 12th)

When: 8:45am to 4:30pm on January 24th and February 21st , 2025

Where: Garden Ridge Church of Christ 102 N. Garden Ridge BLVD, Lewisville, TX 75067

What: Up to 4 merit badges, patch, one printed workbook, and facilities.

Fees: $15 for scouts, no-fees for adults, OA on-site lunch fundraiser $7 to $10.

SCOUT SIGN UP
There are two steps to complete registration. The Longhorn Council site to register and pay for the event and a Google Form to capture the scouts’ requested courses. Class schedules will be emailed to all scouts and unit leaders in January.

ADULT SIGN UP
Adult helpers and Merit Badge Counselors are the lifeblood of Merit Badge College, and we need your help to deliver another fantastic event this year. We need at least one adult helper from each unit for every six scouts, so your help is greatly needed and appreciated! Merit Badge Counselors and adult helpers please complete the form below, you do not need to register on the Longhorn council site. As always, SYT Safeguarding Youth Training (YPT) must be current for all adults. Counselors and adult helpers will have their schedule sent to them via email in January.
